Witness with your very own eyes, the biggest Ray migration in the whole world! Every year from May until July, during the mating season, millions of these beautiful Mobula rays enter the Sea of Cortez. They migrate in their tens of thousands in search of the cold upwellings of nutrient-rich water in search of food and new mates. It is easy to spot the big school because they have the unique behavior to jump with their full-body outside the water. There are a number of reasons why researchers believe the Mobula Rays fly their whole body out of the water, remove parasites, communicate, attract mates or simply do it for fun.
Nestled along the Sea of Cortez lies La Ventana, a small fishing village located 40 minutes southeast of La Paz.The hot spot for Mobula Rays. La Ventana’s popularity continues to grow while also remaining an area free of thrill-seeking crowds.

Animal life obviously moves around and a certain level of fitness is required. In general, this kind of activity is considered as an easy level, but still, you need a certain kind of fitness. Life jackets and wetsuits are provided if desired.
This is an open ocean safari and so a good comfort level in the water is recommended. However, the Mobula rays can obviously change direction without any notice but you are always welcome to have a little break before continuing snorkeling with them.
Keep in mind that you usually cannot see the seafloor. We do not go out in very choppy surface conditions and life jackets are available for anyone that wants one.
